Like many alternative medicine schools, naturopathic schools offer a variety of certificate and degree programs with an emphasis on naturopathy. To begin with, students seeking certification should review naturopathic school curriculums for a number of certificate programs that may include naturopathic midwifery; herbal studies; iridology; holistic animal care; qigong and shiatsu.

Naturopathic Schools that offer naturopathic midwifery certification programs require that the student has first obtained his or her degree in naturopathy. Other certificate programs, such as iridology studies, are comprised of in-depth holistic training in anatomy and physiology, iridology theory and practice. Naturopathic school students who have completed this certificate program may sit for the International Iridology Practitioners Association (IIPA) exam to become certified.

Another great certificate program is herbal studies. At a naturopathic school, herbal studies may lead to three level certificates: Family Herbalist, Consulting Herbalist and Master Herbalist. In these particular courses of study, students will gain a broad overview of home remedies; anatomy and physiology; aromatherapy; basic nutrition; Herbology; herbal gardening; womens health; history of herbalism; therapeutic Herbology; plant identification; pharmacology; Chinese Herbal Medicine and many other related subjects.

While there is a wide variation in individual Naturopathic school certificate programs and curriculums, many of these specific healing arts schools provide numerous comprehensive degree programs in naturopathy. For instance, naturopathic schools commonly extend a broad assortment of courses; and Bachelor and Master Degrees in relation to natural healing.

In addition to Doctor in Naturopathy and Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, naturopathic schools also afford students with other options such as Bachelors or Masters of Science in Natural Health and Holistic Nutrition. Students have the flexible choice to select from these and many other fields of study. These and other naturopathic school degree programs are likely to include studies in business; biology; anatomy and physiology; alternative medicine; holistic health; mind/body medicine; Herbology; homeopathy; shiatsu; iridology; naturopathic history; Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM); Ayurvedic Medicine; natural health; and a good deal more.

Though each naturopathic school does have a set course of time to complete academic programs, certificate programs may run as long as two years, with degree programs extending to 5 years (depending on independent course of study).
